He's not even in middle school yet. [Yuya points at himself.] I didn't blend in very well either, sometimes it's awkward to stick out.
[It's part of why Daybreak has been a better experience, although half green hair still isn't... normal... but at least red doesn't stick out so much.]
[That wasn't... quite the direction Yuya was going for, and he raises an eyebrow.] The blog is a lie?
[What little his mom showed him (gushed about) looked too enthusiastic, but then again he hasn't seen Akechi be that hyper in person, either.] I guess your persona on it is more bubbly, but don't you enjoy it?
[He sighs, rubbing his forehead as his younger self blows a raspberry.]
The sentiments are true, but the presentation isn't. He's talking about things like watching my phrasing, and downplaying personality traits that adults might disapprove of.
[Big Akechi looks like he's resisting the urge to wring little Akechi's neck. Would that count as murder?]
Talking like a delinquent is enough on its own...along with anything else that suggests disrespect for authority. I'm sure he's made his opinions there obvious.
A bit. [Yuya tilts his head with a wry grin. So he's just not a fan of tatemae. That's fair--sometimes Yuya feels suffocated by it, too.]
I get it. I noticed when I started coming to the academy that public face is less important in the West. It kind of takes getting used to, how open people here can be. [He figures Akechi has definitely noticed a greater inclination for conflict and rambunctiousness.] But I don't think it's a bad thing.
[Yuya puts his hand to his mouth to try and hide his giggle.] Most people won't think twice about it, you'll see.
[He goes around with red and green hair, he knows how much people here are inclined to let everyone else be whatever as long as they're not causing a disturbance.] They're probably a lot more worried about a little version of them running around than anyone else's. Besides, he's cute.
[... Maybe Yuya's using cute liberally, but he's definitely not going to talk down to the kid who was worried about being ostracized.]
That's true. [He got lucky there's no six year old crybaby version of him running around so he can look after everyone else's pasts. And remember.] But I'm not disappointed to learn about you, either.
[Oh--that gets Yuya to crack up suddenly when he just goes right for swearing. A true delinquent, and Yuya will never tell him mom because then she'll never leave him alone about an autograph,] Have you been holding that in?!
Your food blog fans? [He's not up and up on the true crime scene in Tokyo, but give his mom he'd totally believe it about a bunch of housewives.] I guess it doesn't fit the image too much, being vulgar.
[He leans off the wall, clearing his throat before lacing his fingers together and grinning wide as he talks in a higher tone like, well, a high school girl. He read one of those blog posts.] This is the best fucking burger place in Tokyo, right?! Their cheesy fries are the shit!
[Look, he can even punctuate english swears, this is terrible.] Like that?
I do. I even work closely with a public prosecutor...though, obviously I'm on leave right now. My bosses aren't big enough assholes to make me work on cases from a different fucking country.

Our middle school years were...not the best. There were still some teachers back then that disapproved of us being left handed.
[To say nothing of the attention issues, but he's still a little embarrassed to admit to that.]

At least you know it gets better? Like you have a really popular food blog now, and you're here.
[But also, the food blog is some kind of fame, right.]
